What Are Working Days?
Working days (or business days) are Monday through Friday — the days most offices operate. This calculator counts those days between two dates and excludes weekends.
How It's Calculated
The tool counts every weekday (Mon–Fri) from the start date to the end date, inclusive. It automatically skips Saturdays and Sundays.
Example: From Wednesday April 1 to Wednesday April 15, 2026:
- Total calendar days: 15
- Weekends (Sat & Sun): 4 days
- Working days: 11 days
When You Need This
- Project planning: Calculate how many office days a task takes.
- Leave management: Ensure leave policies count only working days.
- Delivery timelines: Many couriers quote "3–5 working days."
- Contract deadlines: Legal deadlines often specify "within X working days."
Note on Public Holidays
This basic calculator counts Monday–Friday only. For precise results that exclude national holidays, you\'d need to manually subtract them or use a more advanced tool. Major Indian holidays include Republic Day, Independence Day, Diwali, and Holi (dates vary yearly).
Real-World Example
You submit a leave request on Thursday, April 3. You want 5 working days off. That means:
- Friday April 4 (1 day)
- Monday April 7 (2)
- Tuesday April 8 (3)
- Wednesday April 9 (4)
- Thursday April 10 (5)
So your leave spans April 4–10, but only 5 working days are charged.
