How to Convert Percentage to CGPA

Different educational institutions use different scales for grades. Most Indian universities use a 10-point scale (CGPA), while US institutions typically use a 4-point scale (GPA).

Common Conversions

  • Percentage to CGPA (Scale of 10): CGPA = Percentage / 10
  • Percentage to GPA (Scale of 4): GPA = (Percentage / 100) × 4

Example: 75% on a 10-point scale = 7.5 CGPA. On a 4-point scale = 3.0 GPA.

Semester CGPA Calculation

To calculate your cumulative CGPA across multiple semesters, multiply each semester\'s CGPA by its credit hours, sum them all, then divide by total credits.

Cumulative CGPA = Σ(Semester CGPA × Credits) / Total Credits

Example: Multiple Semesters

  • Sem 1: 7.8 CGPA × 20 credits = 156
  • Sem 2: 8.1 CGPA × 20 credits = 162
  • Sem 3: 7.5 CGPA × 20 credits = 150
  • Total: 468 ÷ 60 credits = 7.8 cumulative CGPA
